SIMPLICITY AND PAIN

Thank you very much, friends, for your support.

 Making this film was very simple ... but painful.

  "Simple" because the original material had a feeling so deep that it was almost impossible to take a bad story. "Painful" because I have spent nine months locked in a dark room, 6 or 7 days per week, 10 or 12 hours per day: older, fatter, animating frame by frame, until the pain in my eyes, back and brain forced me to terminate it.

 I know that Frank Castle would never attack the Swat, I apologize to all the comic-book enthusiasts for this freedom I have taken. But I never thought that 21,000 fans could watch my film (in a week!), or that it would be discussed in international publications.

 I'm just another Spanish unemployed young: I have never left Europe, the voices of the actors are, mostly, my friends. I know New York thanks to "Taxi Driver" or Woody Allen and I have not spent a single euro in this movie. I appreciate the comparisons with Hollywood blockbusters, and I hope that you understand why, in some aspects, did not reach the same level.

I didn´t make this movie for money. Just for the pleasure of seeing the story moving.
And now, I appreciate being able to share with the world an enjoyable film, produced only with Simplicity and Pain.

Realizar está película fue muy sencillo… aunque doloroso.

"Sencillo" porque el material original tenía un sentimiento tan profundo que era casi imposible sacar una mala historia, "doloroso" porque me pasé 9 meses encerrado en una habitación oscura, 6 o 7 días semanales, 10 o 12 horas diarias: envejeciendo, engordando, animando fotograma a fotograma hasta que el dolor de mis ojos, espalda y cerebro me obligaron a darlo por terminado.

Sé que Frank Castle jamás atacaría a los Swat, le pido disculpas a todos los apasionados del comic, por esta libertad que me he tomado. Pero jamás pensé que 21.000 fans pudieran ver mi película, ni que ésta fuera a ser objeto de debate en publicaciones internacionales.

Solo soy otro joven español al paro: nunca he salido de Europa, las voces de los actores son, en su mayoría, mis amigos. Conozco Nueva York gracias a “Taxi Driver” o Woody Allen  y no he invertido un solo euro en esta película. Agradezco las comparaciones con las superproducciones multimillonarias de Hollywood, y espero que comprendáis por qué, en algunos aspectos, no llego a alcanzar el nivel de las mismas.

No hice este corto por dinero. Solo por el placer de ver la historia en movimiento.

Y ahora: agradezco haber podido compartir con el mundo una película entretenida y producida solamente con Sencillez y con Dolor.
